What’s On This Easter


Here’s some ideas of what you can do in Abergavenny over the Easter holidays for all the family!



Friday 18th  March, 7.30pm
The Big Bang – Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre

A fun, interactive lecture by former University and NASA astronomer Martin Griffiths on what is the big bang and why does everything we see in the universe have an origin of 13.82 billion years ago?

This event will be followed by stargazing sessions using the Brecon Beacons Observatory and additional telescopes (weather permitting).

Thursday 24th March
Abergavenny Farmers Market

Come along to Abergavenny town where you will experience a traditional farmers market in the Market Hall and take a wander around the town to see its distinctively independent shops all surrounded with beautiful countryside.



Saturday 26th March
Easter Eggstravaganza at Raglan Castle

Come and enjoy the annual Medieval Easter celebrations.

Join in the Easter egg hunt, have a go at a range of family friendly activities - archery, falconry, medieval characters, face painting and lots more!

Children’s TV favourite Mike the Knight will be at Raglan Castle on Saturday 26 March - he will be making knightly appearances at intervals from 11am–4pm

Brecon Beacons Park Society: Contouring Around Cwm Banw

Fancy a challenge? Meet at Crickhowell High School GR SO 216185 OS Map OL13. Walking up onto the Black Mountains above Crickhowell and following the ridge around to Pen allt-mawr. Dropping back towards the Grwyne Fechan then a final climb up to Table Mountain. Any climbs will be taken at a relaxed pace mostly on good paths and sections of the Beacons Way where you can take in the 12 miles of wonderful countryside.

Easter Egg Hunt At The White Castle

Hop along to White Castle this Easter Sunday and participate in an Easter Egg Hunt.



Monday 28th March
Easter Family Fun Raceday at Chepstow Racecourse

A family day out at Chepstow Racecourse won’t disappoint just minutes from Abergavenny! There will be plenty of free children’s entertainment including the Panic Circus, Face Painters and Bouncy Castles. There will also be Donkey Rides and Go Karts! Children aged 17 and under are admitted free of charge with a paying adult.

Admission tickets, including family tickets, and hospitality packages available. Picnics welcome!

An Evening of (G) Astronomy

In celebration of Visit Wales’ Great Weekend of Adventure,
The Angel Hotel are teaming up with experienced astronomers from
Dark Sky Wales for a sophisticated evening of supper and star gazing.

The evening will be divided into three sections:

Planetarium - a unique view of the night sky from the
comfort of a digital planetarium set up in our Ballroom.
You will look at the planets, Moon, constellations, galaxies
and much, much more.

Talk - An illuminating presentation in the Ballroom Bar on Life in the Universe

Supper - served in the Wedgewood Room;

Glass of ‘Hubbly Bubbly’ upon arrival

Selection of nibbles, Artisan breads and butter

Stargazy rabbit and langoustine pie with rocket salad

‘Mars’ pot au chocolat

Coffee and petit fours

Followed by star gazing outside (weather permitting)
